  Genoa is a small community 20 miles west of Columbus located in the Loup Valley in eastern Nance County. Genoa has an excellent school system. The city has a beautiful park and pool for recreation. There is also overnight camping. Genoa is considered a bedroom community with affordable housing.

Loup Power District, a wholesale power customer of Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD), is a full-service, public power electric utility in eastern-central Nebraska. Headquartered in Columbus, Neb., Loup's service area covers approximately 2,028 square miles. The District maintains 780 miles of transmission and distribution lines and has been generating electric power since March 5, 1937. Total population within Loup's service area is approximately 50,000. Genoa is a second class city governed by a mayor and city council. These officials are elected by a popular vote of the citizens and serve four-year terms in their respective wards. Genoa is served by the Nance County Sheriff's Department. Additional police services are provided by seven officers of the Nebraska State Patrol, Troop B, which is based in Norfolk, Nebraska. The city has a 30-member Volunteer Fire Department with handles the city and a 10-mile city radius. The fire department has six pieces of equipment, and is a member of the Mid-Nebraska Mutual Aid Association. The city has 24-volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and one emergency vehicle. These EMTS service the entire city and a 10-mile city radius.

Twin River School District, the home of the Titans, is a K-12 school district of approximately 550 students. The elementary and high school are located in Genoa and the junior high is in Silver Creek. Sites include Genoa, Monroe and Silver Creek. The staff, administration and school are committed to helping all students achieve success. This commitment is reflected in the school's mission statement: "As an innovative educational system, the mission of Twin River Schools is to provide a safe, cooperative environment to prepare individuals for lifelong learning." Twin River students have opportunities to study and learn through expanded classroom activities. Elementary students use the Accelerated Reader program to explore the world of books and its many facets. The SCIPP program introduces the junior and senior high students to the perils of peer pressure and decision-making. Tech-prep and school-to-work are transition programs to assist students moving from high school to the working world. The Central Community College Early Entry/Adult Education program expands the educational opportunities for senior class members and the adult population of our community.

Genoa Community Hospital/L.T.C. and Park Street Medical Clinic, conveniently located on a shared campus at 706 Ewing Avenue, provides acute hospital services, nursing home care, and physician services to the community. The 79-bed facility (20 acute care beds, 45 long term care beds and 15 assisted living beds)is fully accredited. The assisted living unit was completed in 2002. The not-for-profit organization is owned and operated by the City of Genoa. Nursing home care is provided in an attached facility, built in 1987. Activities are directed by a full-time staff. The facility has a beautiful chapel area. An aviary provides the opportunity to watch birds from a very close proximity. Home Health Services are provided through an agreement with a medical center located in Grand Island, Nebraska.
